What is the smallest QR code I can print?
For reliable scanning, print at minimum 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 in). Add 10× the QR width as the scan distance — a 2 cm code scans from about 20 cm. Use error correction level H if it will be printed on textured material or behind glass.
Which error correction level should I pick?
L recovers up to 7 % damage and is fine for clean screen displays. M (15 %) is a good default. Q (25 %) is right for stickers and merchandise. H (30 %) is the right call any time the QR may be partially obscured, scratched, or printed on fabric.
Can I add a logo to the middle of the QR code?
Yes — keep the logo under 25 % of the QR width and stick to level Q or H error correction. The QR specification reserves enough redundancy that a small centered overlay does not break scanning.
Do dark mode QR codes work?
They work as long as the contrast ratio is at least 4:1 between foreground and background, and the foreground is the darker of the two. Inverted (light QR on dark) is allowed by the spec but some older scanners struggle — test with two phones before going live.
PNG or SVG — which should I download?
Use SVG for anything that will be printed: it scales to any size without artifacts. Use PNG for digital use where you want a fixed pixel size, or when uploading to platforms that reject vector formats.
Do QR codes expire?
Static QR codes (which this generator produces) never expire — they encode the URL directly. Dynamic QR codes (offered by paid services) route through a tracking server and can be edited later, but they expire if you stop paying.
